System overview

Hydraulic Boost Failure Compensation (HBC) maintains braking performance even when the hydraulic brake boost system fails or degrades. It continuously monitors hydraulic pressure and boost performance; on detecting a pump malfunction or pressure loss, it activates backup systems such as electric pumps, uses residual hydraulic pressure, and adjusts pedal feel to alert the driver while preserving stopping power. HBC gradually transitions toward manual braking if a complete failure occurs, guarantees at least the regulatory-required braking performance, and integrates with ESC and ABS modules.

Key advantages

Continuous monitoring of hydraulic pressure and boost health

Automatic switch to backup electric pumps on failure

Consistent pedal feel and driver warning in fault modes

Graceful transition to manual braking on total failure

Technical profile

Capabilities and technical values are program-dependent and must be confirmed against the applicable OEM requirements, vehicle architecture and validation plan.

Problems it solves

  • Solves loss of brake assist when the hydraulic boost system fails.
  • Maintains regulatory-minimum braking through redundant sources.
  • Alerts the driver via pedal feel and dashboard warnings.

Typical applications

  • Vehicles relying heavily on hydraulic boost for normal braking.
  • Safety-critical platforms requiring redundant brake pressure.
  • ESC/ABS-equipped systems needing fault-tolerant braking.
