System overview

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) uses the ADAS perception stack—including the documented 77 GHz radar and monocular camera—to assess frontal collision risk. Time-to-collision and threat logic drive visual, audible, or haptic warnings and can provide a coordinated input to AEB. Detection classes, range, timing, and environmental performance are defined and validated against the OEM program’s operating domain.

Key advantages

77 GHz radar and monocular-camera perception

Real-time classification of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists

Visual, auditory, and haptic driver-warning interfaces

Operating envelope validated against the project DVP

Technical profile

Capabilities and technical values are program-dependent and must be confirmed against the applicable OEM requirements, vehicle architecture and validation plan.

Problems it solves

  • Solves slow driver detection of forward collision risk.
  • Provides program-calibrated warning before the intervention threshold.
  • Serves as the perception layer that triggers AEB.

Typical applications

  • Vehicle programs with defined forward-collision warning requirements.
  • ADAS suites where FCW feeds AEB and ABP.
  • Platforms requiring project-validated forward perception.
