System overview

The ATI SCU sits above the individual subsystems and turns their requests into one coherent vehicle behaviour. It receives state from the BMS, ESC, EHB, EPS, ADAS and the powertrain, then executes torque, energy, charging, safety and range strategies against the vehicle-level objective rather than any single subsystem objective. In REV applications it also owns the range-extender policy, starting and stopping the generator against SOC and load so the battery stays inside its target window. Fault handling, limp-home behaviour and DTC reporting are centralised here, which is what lets a single ATI platform behave predictably when several interventions arrive at once.

Key advantages

Vehicle-level arbitration across braking, steering, ADAS and powertrain requests

Power limiting driven by live SOC, SOH, voltage, current and temperature from the BMS

Range-extender start/stop policy that holds SOC inside a target window

Centralised fault detection, limp-home entry and DTC reporting over CAN

Technical profile

Capabilities and technical values are program-dependent and must be confirmed against the applicable OEM requirements, vehicle architecture and validation plan.

Problems it solves

  • Motor torque and speed management from pedal demand, drive mode and stability state
  • HV pre-charge, contactor and interlock control coordinated with a DC charger or OBC
  • Energy strategy for regenerative braking blended with the EHB

Typical applications

  • Battery electric passenger vehicles
  • Hybrid and range-extended platforms
  • Light commercial and fleet EVs
